What's new in Radi v0.7
2011.08.09
-
Clip layers are now applied within a <canvas> element. (Previously clipping was applied only within video or image elements.)
Note that you can currently only use a Shapes layer as a clip layer within a canvas element. This is due to the way the HTML5 canvas element works: the clipping content needs to be a vector path.
-
You can now create multi-line text within a Text layer.
-
It's now possible to choose whether a Text layer is rendered as 'dynamic' or not. This is only applicable within a <canvas> element (other element types can't contain dynamic text).
When the text layer is set to dynamic, it is rendered using the canvas element's native text-drawing capabilities. This allows the text to be changed at will. Note that this limits the fonts that you can use: for dynamic text, the font needs to be available on the system of the user viewing the content.
If you don't need dynamic content and want to ensure that fonts are rendered as specified, disable the Dynamic setting. This will result in slightly larger files, as the text is rendered into an image file by Radi.
-
You can now specify that a dynamic text layer takes its content from a JavaScript variable. (The variable must be a property on the scene root object, a.k.a. 'env.sceneRoot').
-
The 'rd' object provides scripts access to the current Radi document's contents. New methods were added in this release: goToFrame(), getLayerByName() and getElementByName(). Interactive elements can use these methods to modify the current animation. (These will be documented eventually...)
-
Fixed a HTML publishing bug where a "Go to Frame" timeline event would not correctly jump to frame 1.
-
Fixed bug where layers with no keyframes would be shown without any color in the Layers view.
-
Fixed bug with exporting audio in a <video> element.
-
Fixed bug where importing and exporting shapes from a Shapes layer didn't work.
Each Radi version tends to focus on slightly different features. See what happened in the previous version:
