What's new in Radi v0.8.1

New Auto-pose feature.
This is the equivalent of Auto-keyframe for animating shape forms. When Auto-pose is enabled, all modifications you make within a Shape layer (e.g. dragging points, changing fill colors) will be recorded as shape poses. The Auto-pose checkbox can be found in the top-right corner of the document area when a shape selection is active.
-
The Select Layer tool now selects shapes and shape points as well.
To select components within a layer, double-click and the layer-specific tools will appear. (Previously you needed to use the Select Shape Points tool to edit shapes.)
-
Auto-keyframe now keyframes all of a layer's properties by default.
Previously it would create keys only for those properties that were changed (e.g. if you dragged a layer, keyframes were made for X and Y position). This behavior is still available when needed: you can toggle it in the pop-up next to the Auto-keyframe checkbox when the Select tool is active.
-
Keyframes can now be dragged in the Layers view.
To drag a single keyframe, just click & drag. To drag multiple keyframes, select them with Shift key pressed, and drag while keeping Shift down.
-
Improved frame marker in Timeline view. The marker is now rendered with more contrast, and it is offset to better indicate the current frame.
-
Current time in seconds is now displayed next to the current frame in the Timeline view.
-
Added visual cues to better indicate top-level elements in Layers view.
-
Added layer visibility toggle in Layers view.
-
Elements can now be dragged to the left of the timeline's start to set their "in time" as negative (i.e. the element's time can start before the main timeline). This can simplify editing of animation or video timing, e.g. if there is some unnecessary content at the start of a movie.
-
Duplicate function (Edit > Duplicate) works for selected elements, layers and shapes.
-
Cut/Copy/Paste commands now work for copying individual shapes.
-
In the Draw Shape tool, you can now created smoothed points using the Alt modifier key. (Previously you'd have to edit the points afterwards to apply smoothing to them.)
-
Improvement to Draw Shape tool's shape finishing behaviour (double-click, or click on starting point).
-
You can now use a pattern as the background for the document.
-
Markdown layers (i.e. styled text) are now correctly rendered within a Canvas element.
Note: the Canvas element can't render HTML directly. Hence the text layer is rasterized and exported as an image when it's placed within a Canvas. If you want it to be rendered as real HTML text, you should place the layer within a Text Block element.
-
Text can now be rotated. (This was a long-standing omission that I had simply forgot about...)
-
Experimental EPS importer.
It's now possible to import vector graphics in the EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) format, which is supported by most vector design software such as Adobe Illustrator.
To import, create a Shape layer and select it; then click the Tools button in the Inspector window and choose "Import File".
Note: this feature is experimental. It doesn't support nearly all EPS features. It works best for simple graphics such as logos. Text is not imported, so it should be vectorized in the original app before exporting. Bezier shapes are imported to Radi, but they're not currently editable because Radi doesn't show the tangent handles for Bezier points. (This will be fixed eventually.)
-
Fixed bugs in Text layer color and alignment updates.
-
Fixed bug in layer opacity display on some systems.
-
Fixed bug where changes to document size would not be reflected in shape layers nested in some kinds of elements.
-
Fixed bug where published Image elements might render scaled at a size different from the document.
-
Fixed bug where auto-keyframing would be incorrectly applied within elements that can't contain keyframes (e.g. Image).
-
Fixed bug where undo would not be correctly registered when deleting a layer by pressing Delete key in canvas view.
Each Radi version tends to focus on slightly different features. The previous version added vector painting, Markdown text, and more. See
